September 22, 2016 – Tech. Sgt. William White, 4th Space Control Squadron, accepts the award for Air Force Space Crew of the Year, given by the Air Force Association during an awards ceremony in National Harbor, Maryland, on September 19, 2016. The award was accepted on behalf of deployed teammates.
The 4th Space Control Squadron is part of the 21st Space Wing. The 4 SPCS provides combat space superiority effects to the Commander, Joint Functional Component Command for Space, and theater Combatant Commanders through operation of the Counter Communications System. The squadron also deploys globally to conduct mobile and transportable space superiority operations as directed by the commander of Air Force Space Command.
Previously located at Holloman Air Force Base, New Mexico, the squadron was collocated with the 76th SPCS to the Peterson East Space Control compound in July 2014 to consolidate shared infrastructure and resources. The relocation created efficiencies in manpower and improved space control training and evaluation programs.
Peterson Air Force Base is located in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
