October 6, 2016 – On November 5, the Challenger Learning Center of Colorado will debut a new type of design challenge called STEM Builders. Students in 4th and 5th grade are invited to put their team’s engineering and problem solving skills to the test using everyday materials and supplies. Design challenges will involve brainstorming and prototyping solutions to everyday challenges in a competition format.
All participating teams must pre-register through Challenger’s STEM Builders website. Every team must have an adult team sponsor/coach with military base access. There can be up to four students per team. At least two students per team must be dependents of military personnel (active-duty, Reserve, Guard, retired, civil service, or contractors).
The challenge will be held at Peterson Air Force Base and all participants and adult sponsors are responsible for arranging for their own access onto Peterson Air Force Base.
All participants will receive STEM Builders t-shirts. Awards will be given to winning teams. This event is free.
