October 11, 2016 – Women in aerospace-related sciences and aerospace-related engineering may be eligible for the Zonta International Amelia Earhart Fellowship. Applications for the 2017 Fellowships are due on November 15, 2016.
The US$10,000 Fellowship, established in 1938 in honor of famed pilot and Zontian, Amelia Earhart, is awarded annually to 35 women pursuing Ph.D./doctoral degrees in aerospace-related sciences or aerospace-related engineering. It may be used at any university or college offering accredited post-graduate courses and degrees in these fields.
Since the program’s inception, Zonta has awarded 1,508 Amelia Earhart Fellowships, totaling more than US$9.3 million, to 1,079 women representing 70 countries. Past Fellows have gone on to become astronauts, aerospace engineers, astronomers, professors, geologists, business owners, heads of companies, and Secretary of the U.S. Air Force.
