AlloSource Named Company Of The Year By Colorado BioScience Association

November 19, 2014 – AlloSource, one of the nation’s largest providers of skin, bone and soft tissue allografts for use in surgical procedures, and the world’s largest processor of cellular bone allografts, has been named the Company of the Year by the Colorado BioScience Association (CBSA). AlloSource is a repeat winner, having won this award in 2007.

CBSA’s annual Company of the Year award recognizes an established company that has experienced significant advancements within the year and highlights the vibrant bioscience industry in the state. For the past 11 years, CBSA has developed programs and policies to help Colorado companies thrive.

“We are honored to be part of Colorado’s pioneering bioscience industry,” said Thomas Cycyota, AlloSource President and CEO. “This has been a year of extraordinary growth for AlloSource. We are proud of what we’ve accomplished and are looking forward to where we’re going with new partnerships, product innovations and process initiatives focused on maximizing the gift of human tissue donation.”

This year, AlloSource began work on a unique collaboration with National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL). Manufacturer’s Edge helped facilitate the relationship through a program aimed at fostering technology transfer and new product commercialization between NASA and Colorado companies.

AlloSource will leverage technologies developed by NASA/JPL for assembly and launch operations of various Mars missions to advance microbial research in tissue processing. The molecular microbial detection technology used in the rigorous pre- and post-mission testing of the spacecraft components provides an opportunity for AlloSource to evolve microbial testing on donated tissue.

With the guidance of its leadership and advisory boards of healthcare professionals, AlloSource has created innovations that progress healing. They include AlloStem® Cellular Bone Allograft, a partially demineralized allograft bone combined with adipose derived mesenchymal stem cells and AlloMend® ADM, an acellular dermal matrix featuring high ultimate tensile strength in a flexible and pliable collagen/elastin scaffold for use in demanding sports medicine applications, as well as new formulations of AlloWrap® DS, a human amniotic membrane designed to provide a biologic barrier following surgical repair. These technologies bridge the proven science of tissue allografts with advanced cellular technologies.

“AlloSource is truly mission-driven, inspired by the gift of tissue donation, to make sure donors live on through all the recipients they help. This year they are celebrating their 20th anniversary, and we look forward to seeing what the next 20 years have in store for them. For these reasons, along with many others, Colorado BioScience Association is delighted to honor them as our 2014 Company of the Year,” said April Giles, President and CEO of the Colorado BioScience Association.

The winners of the Annual CBSA Awards were announced at a dinner held November 6 at the Marriott City Center in Denver.
