September 17, 2015 – Metropolitan State University Denver will break ground on the Aerospace and Engineering Sciences Building at 9 a.m. on October 8 in the parking lot west of the Student Success Building.

The event will feature a keynote speech from Leroy Chiao, former commander of the International Space Station and NASA Astronaut. Chiao is the special advisor for human spaceflight to the Space Foundation and is a veteran of four space missions, having logged more than 229 days in space.

An industry panel discussion about the recruitment and retention of Colorado’s workforce in aerospace and advanced manufacturing will follow Chiao’s keynote prior to the groundbreaking of the new $60 million facility.
