Rural Colorado Schools Invited To Apply For Field Trip Scholarships

Colorado Springs, Colorado. September 15, 2014 – Northrop Grumman Corporation has provided a generous grant that allows the Space Foundation to offer 10 scholarships to rural schools in the state of Colorado for a field trip to the Discovery Center in Colorado Springs.

The Space Foundation Discovery Center is the Pikes Peak region’s space, science and technology attraction and features the Northrop Grumman Science Center.

A full complement of standards-based courses are offered for PreK-12 students. These Discovery Center Field Trips use the Northrop Grumman Science Center, featuring Science On a Sphere®, to teach subjects including space-based science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) as well as social studies, history, government, language arts and other classroom content areas.

Each Discovery Center field trip course is calibrated for a specific grade-level standard, but may also be appropriate for a range of grades as noted in the course descriptions. All courses meet Colorado State academic standards.

The deadline to apply for the scholarship is Friday, September 26, 2014.
