July 6, 2015 – The Space Foundation Discovery Center is taking a summer space-cation, with “Next Stop Mars,” the second of four themed Summer of Discovery programs. Saturday, July 11, will be the last chance to experience Mars-themed hands-on activities and presentations. Take advantage of a special admission offer, only on July 11, buy one child’s admission, get one child’s admission free.
Doors will open at 10:00 a.m., and you’ll want to arrive early for our free Heatsheets® space blanket giveaway, while supplies last.
Various demonstrations will be available throughout the day, suitable for future astronauts with Mars in their sights. Children will love making edible Mars rovers out of candy, and there’s plenty to interest adults, too, at the Discovery Center. Science on a Sphere® presentations will be running throughout the day, showing the landing of the Mars Curiosity. The Mars Robotic Laboratory opens at 11:00 a.m., challenging guests to complete a Mars mission.

Session 1: 11:00 a.m. – noon
Session 2: 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.
($5 additional fee, seating limits apply, appropriate for ages 8 and up)
Sessions on the hour, starting at 11:00 a.m. and ending at 3:00 p.m.

A new Space-cation theme starts on Monday, July 13, with “Exploring Our Universe,” 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday, through July 25.
