March 25, 2015 – St Vrain Valley School District High School team Up-A-Creek Robotics will make its first appearance in 11-years at the world level FIRST Robotics Championship in St. Louis, Missouri at the end of April.

Team Up-A-Creek is comprised of 48 students from 7 SVVSD schools (Silver Creek HS, Longmont HS, Niwot HS, Frederick HS, Lyons HS, Altona and Flagstaff). They are the 2015 Utah Regional Champion team and also received the Industrial Award from General Motors for overall excellence.

The FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Robotics Competition challenges high school teams to design, build, program and test their robots in an intense 6-week cycle.

This years’s them is “Recycle Rush,” and requires the robots to be made of completely reusable or recyclable material. The robots are programmed to move recycling bins to a specific location and stack them, with teams scoring points for the number of bins moved during 2-1/2 minute rounds.

Before the World Championship in Missouri, Up-A-Creek Robotics will be attending the Colorado Regional at Denver University March 26-28. The public is invited to watch on March 27-28 and attendance is free.

Team Up-A-Creek is sponsored by Connect first, an SaaS telecommunications and cloud contact center software provider that focuses on customer satisfaction and hosted solutions.
