June 2, 2014 – In September 2015, Swiss Space Systems (S3) will bring the ZeroG experience to Colorado. ZeroG flights make it possible to feel true weightlessness, in much the same way that astronauts experience outer space.
During a 90-minute flight, S3’s modified Airbus performs a series of mid-air parabolas. At the top of each arc, while the plane transitions from climbing to descending, passengers experience approximately 20 to 25 seconds of weightlessness. Passengers enjoy this unique sensation fifteen times throughout the flight.
“These ZeroG flights are a first step towards Space for All, giving everyone the chance to enjoy the weightlessness experienced by astronauts in space”, explains Pascal Jaussi, CEO of S3.
Space agencies, including NASA, have been operating similar parabolic flights for several decades as part of the astronaut training program. All S3 flights are certified and will be supervised by space professionals and a crew of qualified personnel.
For now, ZeroG will be the world’s most affordable way to experience zero gravity. In the plane’s Party Room, passengers will share the experience with 39 other people for approximately $2,700 per person. For under $7,000 per person, the Premium Zone holds 28 people, providing more space and the chance to play with liquids and balloons. For a truly luxurious, tailor-made experience, passengers can book the VIP room at a starting cost of $68,000.
S3 plans to launch its world tour in Japan next January and will take the ZeroG experience to 15 international locations. Passengers will need to be at least 8 years old and in good health to participate. S3 will be visiting Colorado from September 12-13, 2015.
