Challenger Learning Center Offering 2016 Aerospace Adventure Summer Camps


February 25, 2016 – Challenger Learning Center is offering a variety of educational summer programs with space and science themes. Registration is being accepted online.

Grades 1 – 2

Space Adventures:

Campers will investigate physics through play with LEGO® Simple Machines and toys that have been to space. What happens to spinning tops, pinwheels and catapults in micro-gravity? Young astronauts in training will build simple toys and explore gears, pulleys, and wheels and axles while engaging their creative and critical thinking skills.

Robonauts is the half-day version of our Space Adventures camp (above).

Grades 3 – 5


Rockets, rockets, and more rockets! In this half day camp, students investigate the principles of flight and rocketry that have made mankind’s exploration of space possible. Girls and boys will build and launch several different kinds of rockets and have an out-of-this-world time! Bring a lunch and stay all day by registering for this camp and Lego WeDo 2.0!!!

LEGO® WeDo 2.0:

BRAND NEW HALF DAY CAMP! Working in teams, campers will use the newly released LEGO® WeDo 2.0 robotics kits to explore a variety of building designs and programming. This is an excellent camp for those students who want an introduction to robotics and for kids who want a follow-on of our Junior Robotics camp.

Junior Robotics/Lego WeDo 2.0:

Students in this full day camp will use both the original LEGO® WeDo kits and the new WeDo 2.0 kits to design, build, and program their way to completing challenges.

Grades 6 – 8

LEGO® Robotics:

Are you interested in the basics of programming? Do you enjoy building with LEGOs®? You will use LEGO® Mindstorms to create and design various robots. Working on a team, girls and boys will program the robots to complete challenges such as cleaning up trash, navigating a maze, and even sumo-wrestling.

Advanced LEGO® Robotics:

Extend your experience with LEGO® Mindstorms robots. Working on a team, you will create your own unique robot designs and programming solutions to build a robot capable of carrying out scientific exploration. Prior experience programming Mindstorms a must!

Grades 9 – 12

Space Engineering Odyssey:

Apply physics, biology, chemistry, and computer modeling to make informed decisions while working to save the International Space Station crew during a simulated space mission crisis. COLLEGE CREDIT OPTIONAL: We partner with UCCS to offer two (2) elective physics credits; additional course-work and fee required.
