October 29, 2015 – Dr. Joe Bassi will be at the Boulder Book Store to speak about and sign his new book, A Scientific Peak: How Boulder Became a World Center for Space and Atmospheric Science, on Monday, November 16th at 7:30pm.

A Scientific Peak chronicles Boulder’s meteoric rise to eventually become America’s Smartest City and a leader in space and atmospheric sciences. In two decades following World War II, a group of researchers convinced the government and some of the world’s scientific pioneers to make the town a center of the new space age. Bassi introduces the people and the mix of politics, passion, and sheer luck at the start of this transformation.

Bassi is assistant professor of arts and sciences at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (Worldwide Campus).
